Some of the fungus here have developed giant capsules that detach from their fruiting bodies to disseminate spores across the land, spreading them further than the breeze would normally allow. These floating structures are orbs filled to the brim with spores, vibrating at incredibly low, almost seismic frequencies, warbling in dank grimy tones.
Basically, dubstep spore sacs.
