Located high on a hill overlooking the fox clan’s home city, the temple of the flaming rose offers its interior as a sensual sanctuary for restful retreat, away from the buzz of city life. Built out of rhodochrosite, the temple adds a romantic soft pink glow to the landscape. So much of the stone in one place, though, acts as a magnetizing force, drawing wistful souls to its doors.
The yearly festival around Vartahan’s death and rebirth occurs here, taking advantage of centuries old fire basins and the winding stream nearby.
